server update - gin rummy bug fixed

The server was out briefly for an update this morning. Sorry for the interruption in games!

The update included a couple of changes. There was a bug in Gin Rummy which caused bots to time out, occasionally. Thanks to everyone who reported this! I found a problem which caused that, and fixed it. Please let me know if you see any other problems.

The drag-and-drop functionality in Gin Rummy has also been altered slightly, so you can now see the card that you've picked up to sort. I hope this makes sorting a little easier. Also, sorting now works on tablets - at least on the devices that I have available for testing. Let me know if this does not work for you.

Finally, the Hearts robots have been tuned up a bit, so they will no longer be so cooperative towards someone attempting to shoot.

Gin Rummy Problems: 1. Discard by program chooses a card from matching run or 3 of a kind. 2. Program gives visible card from discard pile, not from deck.

Thank you for pointing out issues... although usually it is better to email, so I can follow up with questions. I am happy to answer here, though.

1. The automated discard, which happens when you take too long to play a card, picks a card at random to discard. This is done in order to discourage players from waiting too long to pick a card, which can be frustrating for their opponents.

2. I am not sure what you mean here; what you describe is the way the game should work - ? The game is programmed according to rules described at the pagat website: "The discard pile is face up, so you can see in advance what you are getting. The stock [deck] is face down, so if you choose to draw from the stock you do not see the card until after you have committed yourself to take it."
