Hey everyone,
USAFvet plays Double Deck Pinochle at World of Card Games. Recently, he shared with me the story of how he came to play that card game. I enjoyed reading it, and I thought others might too! So I asked his permission to publish it on the site. Here it is - USAFvet's Double Deck Pinochle story.

This was a lovely story! Thank you USAF and Marya for sharing. One of my brothers was in the Navy and the other in the Army. The one in the Army also served in Vietnam. So many players on World of Cards have served in the USA armed services. We owe them all a world of gratitude! Thank each and every one of you for your service to this great country!

I also learned DD pinochle in the service at the 656th radar sq. We were a manual backup for the Syracuse air defense system. A staff of five was assigned to the midnight shift. One person had to watch a height finder radar scope for the Syracuse Air Defense Sector. Being a rookie and not knowing the game, I was assigned to watch the scope for 6 of the 8 hour shift. Each day after my shift, I would go to the airmen club and watch people play the game. I learned it in a few days. On my next tour on the midnight shift when my Sargent told me to hit the scope, I said no way I NOW know how to play the game.
